Compound and Complex Sentences simple sentence: has a subject and a verb. It expresses a complete thought. Example: The rainforest is disappearing. complex sentence: an independent clause joined with a dependent clause. You will always find an AAAWWUBBIS word (subordinating conjunction).
Example: The rainforest is disappearing because people cut down too many trees. compound sentence: TWO independent clauses joined together by adding a comma + coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS)
